Someone came by the restaurant asking if we used MSG in our food…

We don’t use any cheap tricks to make our food taste good.  It takes more ingredients, time, and know-how to make our food, but it’s worth the extra effort.  I had old customers complain back in the day (Dec ’10) when I took out liquid smoke from the marinade.  I refused to put in “smoke in a bottle” in the marinade after I took over because I could taste a strange aftertaste in the food and also because I did not trust putting chemicals in something customers and I would eat.  It took a few months, but I later installed BBQ grills outside and used mesquite to give some real BBQ smoke flavor.

As long as I’m here, I’m not going to forgo my principles of giving customers real honest food they’d tell their friends about.
